St. Francis School District Referedum Project Summary

Below is a summary of the most critical items included in the project. Click here for a complete project list.

Wood beams: The project includes fixing the wood beams. The wood beams that support the high school roof are rotting and must be fixed.

Lighting: The project includes replacing ineffective and inefficient lighting. Much of the lighting in our schools is original and no longer produces enough light.

Tech. ed. equipment: The project includes replacing outdated tech. ed. equipment, much of which is old and unsafe.

Phone system: The project includes replacing the existing phone system in the high school. The current system is so old that replacement parts are no longer available. The system often breaks down for hours at a time, making outgoing and incoming calls impossible.

Science labs: The project includes renovating the science labs to meet current standards. The high school's science labs, which have not been updated in 40 years, require repair and do not meet current standards.

Entrances: The project includes more secure building entrances. Unsecured entrances mean that anyone can enter our schools unnoticed.

Technology/Computers: The project includes replacing outdated technology infrastructure and replacing some old computers. Our students must know how to use technology, but our existing technology infrastructure is older and slower than what most people have in their homes. This makes teaching and learning a challenge.

Replace roof and tuck pointing: The project includes replacing the roof at Willow Glen and tuck pointing. The roof at Willow Glen Primary School is well past its life expectancy and mortar between bricks is breaking apart.

Cafeteria addition: The project includes expanding the cafeteria at Willow Glen to accommodate students. The cafeteria is too small to accommodate students during lunchtime, even when students eat in shifts.
