Meet Ms. Korpela

Education: I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007.  I have continued to take classes through UWM in the past year and look forward to continuing my education throughout my teaching career.

Experience: I began working at Willow Glen in 2007 running the School Age Program through the YMCA and working as a paraprofessional.  For the past 4 years, I have been supporting students in all grades and subjects.  I am very excited to be part of the third grade learning community this year!

Interests: If I'm not in the classroom you can probably find me at the gym.  I began studying martial arts and yoga in college and continue to practice daily.  Last summer I received my yoga teaching certification in Mexico.  This past summer I've been focusing on competing for a local jiu jitsu team and teaching a children's jiu jitsu class. 

 

I aspire to create an active learning environment where students can grow both academically and socially.  I strive to mainaintain an atomosphere where students and families feel respected and valued.  Please feel free to stop in, email, or call me as needed.
