8:15-8:30                     Bell rings, students enter, backpacks put away, attendance taken,

                                    lunch money collected

8:30-9:00                     Morning Meeting; Independent reading

 

Science or Social Studies

 

9:00-10:00                   Vocabulary and content development; Reading and discussionJournal writing; Shared reading; Guided reading, Skill instruction;

                                    Literacy centers; Independent reading; Word study; Writing

 

Math

 

10:00-11:10                Skill instruction; Problem solving; Sharing

 

 

Specials

 

11:10-12:00                 A-Days: Physical Education, B-Days: Music, C-Days: Art

 

Author Study

 

12:00-12:15                  Teacher read-aloud; Discussion

 

Recess and Lunch

 

12:15-1:00                    Students go to lunch recess and then they eat lunch

 

Writing

                       

1:00-2:00                     Skill instruction in specific writing genres; Writers' workshop

 

Reading

 

2:00-3:00                    Vocabulary and skill development; Reading and discussion; Shared reading; Guided reading; Literacy 

                                    station; Word work

 

Prepare for Dismissal

 3:00-3:15                     Students pack homework into backpacks; Bus students leave at 3:05 through front door.                                    

                                    Drive-Through students are dismissed at 3:10 through East Exit;

                                    Walkers and children getting picked up from a parent that is parked

                                    are dismissed at 3:15 through  main (North) doors
