Physical Education Dress Requirements

Deer Creek Intermediate School

Physical Education Dress Policy

Grade:  4th, 5th, 6th

Students are required to participate in regular physical activity as part of the physical education program.  Appropriate dress is required for participation in physical education class.  Students will not receive credit for class on days when they do not arrive to physical education without all components of appropriate dress.  Physical education classes at Deer Creek will be taught outdoors whenever the weather allows.  Students will be expected to be appropriately dressed for activity for indoor and outdoor environments.

Appropriate dress for physical education is identified as:

*Athletic shoes

Athletic shoes must securely fit to the foot of the student and must have a back to the shoe. Athletic shoes have rubber soles.  Sandals, boots, slippers, dress shoes, etc. are not recognized as appropriate athletic shoes.

* Loose fitting clothes

Loose fitting clothes include jeans, cargo pants, sweatpants, athletic shorts, long/short sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts and wind pants.  Skirts, dresses, shorts of inappropriately short length, tank tops or any shirts with straps are not identified as appropriate clothing for physical education.  6th grade students may choose to change clothes for class and will be allowed time at the beginning and end of class meetings to do so.
