Welcome to 4th Grade!
My name is Liz Thiele and this is my first year teaching at Deer Creek. I am so excited about the opportunity to work in such a wonderful community and look forward to a fabulous year! Prior to teaching in St. Francis, I taught for two years in Indiana and one year in another community in the Milwaukee area.
Education
I graduated from DePauw University in Indiana in 2008 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. In addition to my Elementary Education major, I was a History minor and I can't wait to explore the history of Wisconsin with the fourth graders this year!
Educational Philosophy
I believe that the classroom environment should maximize learning opportunities for students. Thus, the function of my classroom is to provide a positive educational environment for students in which they feel comfortable and are excited to learn. I also believe that, in order for students to be excited about learning and to desire to participate in lessons, the curriculum must be relevant to their lives. I strive to find ways to connect students to the material in order to peak their interests and encourage them along their individual educational journeys. Finally, I sincerely believe that every student can succeed. To me, the most indispensable element of education is the focus on the individual. I aim to ensure that all lessons can be modified to meet the characteristics and learning styles displayed by each and every child.
About Miss Thiele
I was born and raised in southwestern Ohio, but decided to leave my roots for the great state of Wisconsin. As much as I love Ohio (especially Ohio State football!), my home is now here in Wisconsin and I can't imagine living anywhere else. When I am not teaching, I enjoy running, reading, and spending time with friends. My family and I travel as much as possible, for there are so many interesting places to see and experience. However, my absolute favorite place to escape to is northern Wisconsin. Nothing compares to the peacefulness of the lake on a quiet morning.
I look forward to the amazing adventure that lies ahead of us this school year! Please feel free to get in touch with me should you have any questions!
