Hello and Welcome!

I am one of the Special Education teachers here at Deer Creek.  I am in my third year of teaching (second year at Deer Creek) and am very excited to be a part of the Deer Creek team. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

I am looking forward to a very successful school year with an abundance of learning and fun. Helping students gain the skills they need to succeed is my passion. We will work on skills and strategies with the basics, as well as creativity and critical thinking. I have high expectations for your student and will be doing all that I can to help him or her achieve those goals. It is my expectation that all work assigned will be completed, and you as a parent/guardian can significantly help with this.  Please ask your student every school day if homework needs to be worked on, and if so, make sure that he or she completes their assignment(s).

The STUDENT PLANNER is a vital gateway to finding out what has been assigned and when it is due. Your help and support will not only make your child more successful this year, but it will instill good study habits that last a lifetime.

Finally, I want it to be known that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me either by email (which is the best way) or by phone. My e-mail address is jaorlows@dcchargers.org or by phone at 482- 8473.  I encourage you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have concerning your child. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
