Welcome and thank you for visiting my web page!
My name is Judy Savick. I am the Guidance Counselor at Willow Glen Primary School. I hope that the information below will give you a better idea of who I am and what I do in my position.
I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Educational Studies and my Masters Degree in Educational Psychology/Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While working on my masters, I worked for the Shorewood School District as a paraprofessional/teacher's aide in the kindergarten classrooms. My 14 years of experience and knowledge in this position lead me into the guidance area. I have worked for the St. Francis School District for 18 years now, and I very much enjoy working with the students, parents, and staff members in the district.
How I View My Position
I feel my position as guidance counselor is to help students understand their internal life and feel comfortable with who they really are as human beings. I schedule time in the classrooms to hold class family meetings in which I present books and stories that address life and its many changes, and how these life experiences affect us. Through these class family meetings, the students discover and learn about their feelings, what it means to have courage, how to be trustworthy, kind, responsible, and empathetic.
My role as guidance counselor is also focused on making Willow Glen Primary School a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
Hobbies and Interests
In my free time, I enjoy knitting, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I am also very involved in the preservation of our environment. I love all things associated with art and nature, especially our prairie that is located here on the school grounds.
