In Everyday Math for Second Grade the children develop a broad background by learning various skills with an emphasis in the following areas. NUMBERS AND COUNTING: Counting: reading and writing numbers, identifying place value; comparing numbers; working with fractions, using money to develop place value and decimal concepts. OPERATIONS and COMPUTATION: Recalling addition and subtraction facts; exploring fact families; adding and subtracting with tens and hundreds and exchanging money amounts. DATA and CHANCE: Collecting, organizing and displaying data using charts, tables and graphs. MEASUREMENT and REFERENCE FRAMES: using tools to measure lenght, weight, capacity and volume; using clocks, calendars, timelines, theometers and number lines. GEOMETRY: Exploring 2 and 3 dimensional shapes PATTERNS< FUNCTION and ALGEBRA: Exploring number patterns, rules for number sequences, relations between numbers and attributes.
