Grading:
· Assignments = 30%
Assignments in math class are given daily. You generally have time to start your assignment in class. What is NOT completed in class is expected to be taken HOME and completed by the next day. All math assignments in math class MUST be completed in pencil to receive credit for them. Assignments should have your full name, the assignment, and the date in the upper right hand corner. Unless I tell you differently in class, ALL math assignments are to be completed in your math notebook. Work must be shown for ALL problems if you wish to get credit for them. It is your responsibility to keep all assignments that are corrected and turned back to you until the end of the quarter.
· Quizzes and Tests = 50%
Quizzes and tests will never be a surprise. You will always have prior knowledge days in advance as to when they will be.
Quizzes will be given at the end of each lesson in the module. This generally averages to once a week. On quizzes you will be allowed to use your text book, class notes that you have taken and old assignments as references.
Tests will be given at the end of every module. Two days prior to the test you will be given a pretest to complete as an assignment. This pretest will include all information that will be found on the test. The day before the test we will go over how to do every question from the pretest. Students will also have time to get any additional questions they have answered.
· Participation = 20%
Weekly participation grades will be given. You need to take part in your education. No sitting like a bump on a log and watching others do all the work. Pay attention to the teaching of the daily lesson and take notes as needed. Any notes that are written on the board should be written in your notebook. This will provide you with examples of how to do the problems and also what work needs to be shown. Contribute in class – Be a part of classroom discussions, and activities. Volunteer daily and often!!
Absent Or Late Work:
When you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed and turn in assignments. There are folders organized by class on the counter to the left of the TV where any late or absent work should be turned in. – DO NOT hand late or absent assignments to me or place them on my desk. If you need materials such as worksheets please see me for these. Guidelines as for how grades will be given will follow the 7th Grade Late Work Policy.
If you missed a quiz or a test please see me to set up a date as to when this can be made up.
Extra Credit:
Extra means above and beyond – No extra credit will be given unless you have your daily work completed first. Everyone is given the same chance for extra credit points.
