Education
I received my bachelors degree from Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) in 2007 with a degree in elementary education; minors in math and history. In 2008 I earned my teaching certificate by completing my full year teaching internship at Leslie Middle School in Leslie, MI.
Experience
The 2009-2010 school year will be my second year teaching. Last year was a great first year and I am confident that this year will be better than the first.
Philosophy
Each and every student has the right and ability to learn. I believe the goal of a teacher is to effectively present information and problem solving strategies to a variety of learners, develop interest in subject matter, and inspire students to learn. Math is a subject that is used each in every day in a variety of situations. In addition to facts and figures math teaches students to solve all kinds of problems they experience in the real world. I also believe almost anything can be accomplished with a positive attitude and hard work.
Interests
I consider myself an active person. I like doing a variety of activities outside, including hiking, biking, running, and camping. I have visited campgrounds and seen a lot of the natural wonders our country has to offer. Sports are also a hobby of mine. You can usually find me lacing up my Nikes for a game of basketball or rooting for Detroit and Michigan State sports teams. I also spend my time reading or watching a good movie.
