Welcome to the Music Department Homepage!  This page contains some important information about the music department at St. Francis High School as well as some descriptions of the links to the other pages.

Handbook

The Music Department Handbook is a packet that covers many important areas of the music program.  It is imperative that every student and parent read and sign the handbook.

Courses

The following courses are being offered in the 2010-2011 school year: Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Music Theory.  Each of these courses has a specific web page and calendar of its own.  All course information can be found by using the Music Courses link on the left side.  When you move your mouse over that link each of the courses will come up as a link.  Simply click on the name of the course you would like to see and it will take you to that web page.  Each course web page has a course description, a link to the course syllabus and important information.  All of the events for that course are stored in the Music Calendar under the course title.

Calendar

The Music Calendar web page contains the electronic calendar for all music events.  This includes all music related events such as concerts and pep band games, but also lists important homework dates.  This calendar is the most accurate and up-to-date and should be checked on a regular basis by students and families.  Any conflicts with dates listed in the calendar should be brought to the director's attention as soon as possible.

Newsletter

The St. Francis Music Journal is a newsletter for the Music Director to communicate with the students and families of the students to keep everyone up-to-date about what is going on at the high school.  A new newsletter will be available online every month detailing what has been going on recently (in all courses) and what important activities are coming up.  It is an expectation for students to read each newsletter and it is strongly requested that parents take the time to read it too!  This will keep everyone on the same page and may eliminate some questions that had to be saved for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

The Music Links web page is exactly what it sounds like: a page containing links to various music websites.  Here you can find websites to local music stores as well as some educational websites and organizations.  Please check out these great resources!

Music Boosters

The St. Francis Music Boosters Association (SFMB) is a parent-run support organization for the music programs in the district.  Please click the link on the left side to view their website.

Department Files

The department files page is where you can get documents pertaining to the music department such as the handbook or current lesson schedule.  All documents for the department will be posted on this page (excepting course syllabi and newsletters, which are on their own pages).
