Course Syllabus

Course Description

Music history is a course designed to provide a beginning understanding of the history of western music.  Students will first learn about the fundamental materials of music so that they will have a more meaningful understanding of the topics that are covered.  The historic material will be presented chronologically roughly covering from the early centuries A.D. to modern-day music.  They will learn about many of the most famous composers and compositions.  Students will also listen to numerous pieces both inside and outside of class.  Some terminology and dates will also be covered.
