Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. I am looking forward to a successful, challenging, and fun-filled year. I will be your child’s homeroom teacher and will be teaching reading to all seventh graders
I have very high expectations for each and every student though not more than I know they can handle. All students are expected to behave as mature young adults following the school and classroom rules. Respect and responsibility are the keys to success in my classroom. I expect that students take their learning seriously and put their best effort into each and every day. Work should be done neatly according to the directions given and completed on time for full credit. Students should take pride in their learning and behavior choices. Everyone deserves the best possible learning environment. My classroom is very structured, and I know that by working together we will have a great year.
Each day, students will begin the day in our homeroom. It is very important that students are at school by 7:50 a.m. and ready to begin the day. The first ten minutes of the day will be key to the students getting organized and set for the rest of the day. Students will go to their lockers, do lunch count, and listen to any important announcements. At 8:00 students will proceed to their first class.
It is also important that students are prepared for class each and every day. Please make sure your child has the necessary supplies for school. All students will receive an agenda. This agenda will be required to be carried to every class and also serves as the student’s pass out of the classroom. Students will record their assignments for every class. Please take some time each evening to discuss assignments and work completion. Grade reports will be sent home each Friday and you may also utilize the online grade book to keep track of your child’s progress. All students should have a self-selected silent reading book in class every day. We will participate in Zone Reading, which is an extended silent reading time during reading class.
I am truly looking forward to a great year. I know that by working together everyone will be successful. Your support at home is crucially important. If you ever have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to send an email, a note, or give me a call. This year, our phones will not ring in our classrooms during the school day. You may leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible or you may call the main office.
