School Psychologist
School Psychologists provide support for students, parents, and school staff through their specialized training in psychology and education. They understand the many factors that affect learning and behavior and are eager to coordinate services in order to meet the goal of school success. Core services include assessment, consultation, and intervention.
Assessment includes the use of various evaluation tools in order to determine aptitude, achievement, social skills, learner-environment fit, and personality. Eligibility for special education is sometimes considered using this type of information.
Consultation is the process of providing ideas for effective parent and teacher strategies to address academic and behavioral concerns.
Intervention is the face-to-face work with children and families and may include individual or group counseling and behavior monitoring.
