Nestled on twelve wooded acres, Deer Creek Intermediate School welcomes ALL into our building. From the grounds that include our prairies, to the physical building itself, Deer Creek offers a powerfully positive learning experience focused on the whole child. We have abundant resources in our facility including low student teacher ratios (22:1), nearly one to one technology for students, fine arts offerings (art, chorus, band), and academic enrichment. Our friendly neighbors have allowed us to utilize the nature center in our back yard to further student's curiosity for learning and we partner with local organizations, like LimbForge, to provide authentic STEM learning opportunities. The development of character in our students is reflected in "This is Who We Are" which refers to our expectation that ALL students be a FRIEND, a LEARNER, and a LEADER. There is a feeling of cooperativeness here- one that facilitates an ease of problem solving through effective communications among staff, students, and parents.
About Our Staff
The staff at Deer Creek are life long learners that go out of their way to promote a safe, productive and challenging environment for students in grades 4-8. They are child centered, understanding the need to meet children where they are and guide them in growing as learners and people. This is evidenced in the way that they work together and dedicate themselves to continually improving the intermediate school experience through creative and innovative approaches. Over half of the professional teaching staff holds Master's degrees, and each teacher is involved in setting yearly goals for student achievement and their own professional growth as part of their evaluation process.
