Welcome to Deer Creek Intermediate School, home of the Chargers!
As the Principal of Deer Creek Intermediate School, I look forward to partnering with the staff, students, and families of St. Francis School District. I feel blessed to have landed in a school with such a strong sense of community and I am eagerly anticipating opportunities to connect with our families! In the meantime, before I ask people to share more about themselves, I am happy to share a brief snapshot of my personal and professional life.
Born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, I am the oldest of three children. I earned my Bachelor’s in Biology and Master’s in Teaching from Olivet Nazarene University, where I also met my wife. Heidi and I celebrated our ten year anniversary in August and we are blessed to be the parents of Hannah (age 3). Professionally, I started my career as a science teacher. Since completing my Master’s in Educational Leadership from UW-Madison, I have served Whitnall School District as a Makerspace Facilitator, Learning Coach, Humanities Teacher, Gifted & Talented Coordinator, and Elementary Dean of Students. Making the most of each transition, I believe that this wide variety of experiences prepared me to serve as a strong leader for Deer Creek Intermediate School.
Why am I excited for the opportunity to serve the families of St. Francis? Driving around the community, it reminds me very much of the neighborhoods in which I grew up. I appreciate the small size of the schools and the opportunity to form close connections with students, parents, and staff. Lastly, I love that SFSD has the following goal at the very top of our list: “Nurturing Kinder and More Compassionate Schools”. Count me in!
If there is anything I can do to support the students and staff of Deer Creek, please feel free to email me at bewillia@sfsd.k12.wi.us or call the main office at 414-482-8400.
I look forward to a memorable 2020-2021 school year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ben Williams
