Alternative Education Program
MISSION:
The Alternative Education Program in the St. Francis School District will provide options for at-risk students who need non-traditional educational learning opportunities, while providing rigor and relevance. We will provide opportunities that will allow success for all students.

Job Credit: This option will only be available for credit deficient Juniors and Seniors. Students will be able to earn a maximum of 3.0 credits during an academic school year based on the following formula:
Volunteer Credit: This option will only be available for credit deficient Juniors and Seniors. Students will be able to earn a maximum of 3.0 credits during an academic school year based on the following formula:
Credit Substitution: Students will have the ability to substitute similar credits for required academic credits. The substituted credit must be of a similar subject area, i.e. ½ credit MoneySkills substituting for ½ credit of math because of the significant amount of math in the program.
GED Option 2:
The GED Option 2 is a program that allows severely credit deficient students to graduate on-time with their graduating class. The requirements of the program are:
- Take and pass the 4 GED tests through a GED testing center
- Complete 0.5 credit in Health
- Take and pass the Citizenship/Civics Test
- Complete employability skills (i.e. WisCareers)
- Complete financial literacy course (i.e. MoneySkill)
- Maintain 90% Attendance
- Be employed for at least 10 hours per week or complete 40 hours of community service
- Complete a graduation portfolio
