The St. Francis High School Softball Program has the goal to develop young girls to become the best team and softball players that they can become. The Softball Program is not only concerned with developing the softball skills of these young girls, but also wants to provide structure and support that will allow these girls to turn into productive and responsible young adults. The St. Francis High School Softball Program will achieve this through hard work, structure and determination.
Head Coaches:
Tim Smith: 2nd year at SFHS as the Varsity Coach.
Jeff Martin: 2nd Year at SFHS as the JV Coach.
Evaluations:
Players will be evaluated on various different skills to determine what level they will be invited to participate on. These skills include:
- Arm strength
- Arm accuracy
- Fielding ability
- Hitting the ball for contact
- Hitting the ball for power
- Bunting ability
- Running the bases
- Speed
- Softball intelligence/Intangibles
- Team needs
Positions:
A player’s position will be assigned by the coaches. It is a coach’s responsibility to put the players in the best position that will benefit the whole team or program (not the individual).
Schedule:
Games will be played at 4:00pm on weeknights (some tournaments may be played on Saturdays).
Practices:
The varsity softball team will practice every day they do not have a game. Practices will go from 3:30 - 5:30 daily.
Junior Varsity:
The junior varsity team will practice form 3:30 – 5:30 daily.
