Dr. Deborah Kerr Announces Final Year as Superintendent of St. Francis Public School District

St. Francis, WI — Dr. Deborah Kerr, Superintendent of the St. Francis Public School District, has announced that the 2025–2026 school year will be her final year leading the District. Dr. Kerr shared her decision with the School Board earlier this fall. She expressed her deep appreciation to the St. Francis community, staff, and students for five remarkable years of partnership, growth, and innovation.

“As I begin my 26th year as a Wisconsin Superintendent and my fifth year in St. Francis, I am filled with gratitude and reflection,” said Dr. Kerr. “Who would have imagined that what began as a nine-month interim position would evolve into such a meaningful and lasting chapter of my professional journey?”

Under Dr. Kerr’s leadership, the District has strengthened its systems for student achievement, expanded opportunities for learners, and fostered a culture of belonging that extends beyond the classroom. She praised the dedicated staff, supportive families, and inspiring students who make St. Francis a true “diamond” among school communities.

“As others have said, ‘How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so difficult,’” Dr. Kerr reflected. “I remain fully committed to finishing the year strong—continuing to advocate for our students and staff and supporting a seamless leadership transition to ensure the district’s continued success.”

School Board President Chris Finch expressed the Board’s appreciation for Dr. Kerr’s dedication and impact:

“Dr. Kerr’s leadership has been transformational for the St. Francis School District. Her commitment to academic excellence, students-first, and innovation has positioned our schools for long-term success. She leads with heart, vision, and integrity, and we are deeply grateful for the positive difference she has made for our students, staff, and community.”

Dr. Kerr will mentor the incoming superintendent during transition and continue championing the District’s student-centered, future-focused, and empowerment mission.

“It has been the honor of my career to serve the students, staff, families, and community of St. Francis,” Dr. Kerr added. “Once a Mariner, always a Mariner.”
